Message	608z, You don't give a year and mileage for your car, but the early ones had a PTU (power transister unit) problem that caused the exact same symptoms you describe. My 1990 NA did the same in about its 12th year, at about 60 000 km. Nissan had a recall on those PTU's and an upgraded unit was retrofitted under warranty, if it occurred within the first few years or so. Myself, I had to buy one of the replacements, and problem solved. Its certainly worth a look. Good Luck!
